Ms. Esther Tang Swee Ying is a Legal Associate at CHIONG & PARTNERS’s Kuala Lumpur office, working under the leadership of Evon Ho-Wyllie to advance the firm’s international expansion in cross-border commerce, financial industry matters, family offices, wealth preservation, and trust services. In this role, she structures cross-border agreements, advises on regulatory compliance, and fosters regional partnerships to support the firm’s global growth.
Originally from Sarawak of East Malaysia, Esther earned her LL.B (Hons) (First Class) from the University of Hertfordshire, UK in 2014. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2017, followed by admission to the High Court of Sarawak in 2022.
Previously, at a leading Malaysian developer, Esther improved legal operations by supporting the design and implementation of standardized templates for letters and agreements, streamlining processes for multi-million-ringgit commercial and residential projects and reducing contract preparation time by 30%. She also assisted in recovery processes and negotiations, supporting effective resolutions for commercial disputes, strengthening her ability to deliver practical legal solutions. Earlier, as a litigation associate, she developed expertise in contractual disputes, building a foundation in precision and advocacy.
Her global perspective is shaped by her role as an Areté Delegate with the Global Advocacy Alliance and her position as an Allied Lawyer with ADF International, where she engages in high-impact legal discourse and international collaboration. Her proficiency in English, Malay, and Mandarin Chinese enhances her ability to serve a diverse, global clientele.
