Evon Ho-Wyllie read law in the United Kingdom, graduated from the University of Liverpool. She was called to the bar and practiced laws in Malaysia with notable firms in Kuala Lumpur at the start of her career in Malaysia, specifically trained as a corporate lawyer. She left practice to join various financial institutions initially in Malaysia and then Hong Kong, also spending time in the Middle East spearheading a consultancy firm. Her last position held in Malaysia was the Head of Legal, Compliance and Risk Management for Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (“MARC”) before building her life in Hong Kong in the past 15 years holding positions as in-house counsel and compliance officer for various financial institutions.

Evon started amassing her broad international experiences by first joining AIG General Insurance in Malaysia as an Assistant General Counsel. Her move to Hong Kong had seen her working in various international retail and investment banks as well as within the insurance industry giving her vital experiences in the rating, insurance, retail and investment banking sectors. She covered areas such as strategic regulatory review planning and advisory works, structuring regulatory strategic solutions and reviews, handling regulators and stakeholders’ requirements as well as designing various compliance programme for regional and global implementation. She has gained invaluable international corporate vista having global works covering jurisdictions including but not limited to USA, UK, India, the Middle-East, China, South-East-Asia, Australia, New Zealand.

Other notable areas Evon specializes in include cross-border commerce, manufacturing, distribution, branding, marketing, corporate governance, corporate structuring and financial regulatory framework.

Evon holds positions as legal advisor to the Hong Kong Pet Trade Association (“HKPTA”) and HK3C Association (an association of toys manufacturing entrepreneurs in Hong Kong).

Hong Kong Police Force (Kowloon East Region) has appointed Evon as one of their watchers for “Animal Watchers Programme”, assisting the Force in organizing relevant education and publicity programmes to deliver message of prevention of cruelty to animals to the Hong Kong general public.

Evon has also been appointed as an ambassador for Hong Kong by the Scottish Business Network, a Scottish professional non-profit organization founded in Scotland with the purpose of uniting the Scottish Diaspora in Scotland and across the globe. Members of this organization comprise of founders, investors, entrepreneurs, senior executives and business leaders.

Evon is currently a partner to CHIONG & PARTNERS spearheading the firm’s overseas expansion in cross border commerce, financial industry matters, family offices and trust matters.
